Seed Saving
Every year approximately 23 varieties of heirloom tomato seed is saved at Sun Root Organics. The farm rotates the growing out of a portion of it's 32 varieties of tomatoes every year, with a few of our favorites grown out every year. Heirloom tomato plants are available from Sun Root Organics at the Peterborough Downtown Farmers Market every spring.
Integrated Greenhouse Design
Sun Root Organics has designed and built an integrated low energy greenhouse system, that provides the space to extend the growing season as well as start the farms seedling for planting at the farm as well as for sale in the spring. The greenhouse has also incorporated water catchment, herb drying for efficient use of small spaces.
